Question of the Day: What do use to see? Answer on the Dojo page
Math: Use playing cards, uno cards or flash cards. Choose two cards. Identify the number. Using lego, small blocks or other small objects that are two different colors (bonus if they match the color on the cards) count out the correct number of objects and add together. Concepts learned: number recognition, counting correct objects, object to number correspondence, simple addition
Writing: Practice writing the letter S s. Also write in your name log/journal. (name, birthdate and address) Concepts: Letter S s, fine motor skills, kindergarten readiness.
Reading/language: Find pictures of things that begin with the /s/ sound in magazines and cut them out and glue them to paper. OR draw pictures of things that begin with /s/ and label them. Read them to your family. Concepts: pre reading, /s/ sound, fine motor, letter recognition

Math: Ice cream math. Draw or cut out cone shapes on paper. Parents, write a number on each cone (random numbers 1-20). Using cotton balls or colored pom poms if you have them, use your pointer finger and thumb ONLY to pick up the correct number of cotton balls or pom poms and add them to the cone. For more of a challenge use tongs to grasp the cotton balls or pom poms. Concepts: counting out correct number of objects, object to number correspondence, number recognition, fine motor skills.
Writing: Trace your hands. It will be challenging to trace your opposite or dominate hand with your less dominate hand, but you can do your best. Concepts: tracing, fine motor, handedness
Religion: On the paper you used to trace your hands, write "Thank you God for my hands that can touch all you have made for me"Concepts: God made all living things. God made us. God gave us the gift of touch.
Art: Fingerpaint or make a collage using various textures. Concepts: creative expression, multi media, fine motor

Math: Do a math scavenger hunt. Find 2 pencils and 1 blue crayon. How many items do you have? Find 5 blocks and 2 pennies. How many items do you have? Take away 3 blocks. How many items are left? Find 4 socks and 2 stuffed animals. How many items do you have? Find 8 crackers. Eat 4. How many are left? Find 3 spoons, 4 books and 1 orange crayon. How many items do you? Concepts object and number correspondence. simple addition and subtraction

Math: Clap out the syllables in your name. How many times did you clap? Clap out the names of your family members? Who has the most claps? Concepts: counting beats, listening, syllables
Writing and Art: Have your parents play various types of music for you such as jazz, classical, heavy metal, pop and country. Which one did you like best and why? Ask your parents to help you sound out words or draw a picture of your favorite kind of music.
Religion: Listen to some praise and worship music together with your family.
Reading: Listen to a story on video or on tape
Gross motor: Use your senses outside; What can you hear? What can you smell? What can you touch? What can you see? Use your legs to help you hop from one place to another. Can you do it with one foot? How about the other? Concepts: large motor muscles, hopping on two feet consecutively, hopping on opposite feet for more than 10 hops. Following directions, recalling concepts learned throughout the week.
